The McLaren 650S Le Mans

In honor of the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR’s triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has designed a special variant of the 650S which has been named the 650S Le Mans.

This tribute vehicle was created with the help of Peter Stevens, who designed the game changing McLaren F1. The 650S Le Mans will feature many characteristics of the legendary winning #59 F1 GTR such as a roof mounted snorkel, an enhanced carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, Le Mans edition lightweight wheels, and metallic Sarthe Grey paint with Papaya Orange accents.

The interior will be covered in the finest black leather and Alcantara. Sports seats will keep your spleen from exiting your body while you are taking that sharp right hander near the country club. The Le Mans logo will be displayed on the headrests, door blades, and wheels. In addition, the 650S will feature special floor mats that will prevent your low fat mocha latte with extra whip from staining the Alcantara.

Sadly the power output of the 650S Le Mans will remain the same as the regular 650S and will only be available in coupe form. Production of this tribute vehicle will be limited to 50 units and  it will be priced at $371,359. If you are lucky enough to snag one of the 650S Le Mans, McLaren will personally invite you to the 20th anniversary celebration of the F1 GTR’s victory at the historic Le Man’s circuit.

Personally I’m a massive fan of the 650S Le Mans, I love the look of the fully functional aggressive roof snorkel and the nostalgia filled wheels. With that being said, I wish McLaren would have made this special variant a P1. The 650S LeMans doesn’t quite live up to the legacy of the McLaren F1 LM (which was also built in 1995 to commemorate McLaren’s win at the 24 Hours of LeMans). While the wheels are incredible looking and the roof scoop is simply bonkers, does this justify the $100k markup compared to buying a regular 650S?
