Have you ever wanted access to McLaren’s premiere facilities and a track focused P1? Well if you have $3.36 million laying around and you have already purchased a P1, your dream can become reality.
McLaren Automotive announced on Wednesday their McLaren P1 GTR Driver Program. In addition to receiving the rare opportunity to own a 986 horsepower track focused weapon, you will get to develop yourself as a driver with a little help from McLaren.
Participants will get time in McLaren’s simulator to understand every ounce of performance that the P1 GTR possesses. Also, participants will take part in McLaren’s human performance program which was developed for Formula 1 drivers. The human performance program will focus on fitness and mental preparation. McLaren will holding about 10 to 12 international events on Formula 1 tracks.
Participants will be able to choose six events to take part in for the first year of the program. At each event, McLaren will offer all of the necessary resources for participants. Their cars will be prepped, personal coaches, engineers, technicians, liveries, and garages will be provided.
On top of this, McLaren has unveiled the first images of the P1 GTR’s interior. These images have shown that no compromise has been made for the driver’s comfort or safety. No headroom space will be compromised thanks to the MonoCage. The steering wheel has been greatly inspired by the steering wheel of the iconic MP4-23 Formula 1 car. Every necessary control switch including the DRS (Deag Reduction System) and IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) buttons will be located on the steering wheel. Amazingly enough, the P1 GTR will feature air-conditioning.
Production is scheduled to begin in June of next year. Only 20 to 30 P1 GTRs are rumored to be produced. At $3.36 million, the McLaren P1 GTR is a bargain that offers the opportunity to develop yourself as a driver and to own a track focused GT car that is at the pinnacle of automotive technology. Does McLaren’s P1 GTR Driver Program put Ferrari’s FXX program to shame?
